Once upon a time…
there was a writer called Claire who was stuck for something to write. She’d made a plan to write 500 words a day. But once she’d finished the novel she was working on the 500 words became harder. You can’t add another 500 words every day that you sit down to edit. ‘Fairy tales’ she thought. ‘My head is full of fairy tales. That’s what I’ll write.’
Snippets
Snippets are tiny stories that focus in on the gaps left in fairy tales:
Why would a father tell the king his daughter can spin straw into gold?
How do you climb onto a bed with a hundred mattresses?
Why does the gingerbread boy run away?
What do you say to a frog that wants to kiss you?
Who are these stories for?
I write these stories for me. They’re for people who love fairy tales and thinking about how stories work. If that’s you, then they’re for you too.
What will you get?
I’m planning to post a free story on the last Sunday of every month.
A paid subscription buys you an extra story every other month and occasional writing diary posts.
